We're well into October and it's time to start wrapping ourselves in heavier clothes to keep out a growing chill in the air. But are you sure that shiver down your spine is just from the weather? There could be more disturbing explanations…

Scary stories have been told for as long as there have been people capable of telling them and an audience of listeners to frighten. If you're looking for some spooky Halloween entertainment that honors the very roots of what it is to be human, come join the festivities at one or more of these ghostly storytelling events around the Louisville area.

Wednesday, October 16 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM

The Louisville Ghost Hunters are coming to Southern Indiana's Charlestown Library to share their personal experiences with ghost hunting. If you're intrigued by the paranormal activity in our very own city, you'll enjoy hearing about the expert investigations of Louisville's haunted locations. Be sure to bring along any hair-raising tales of your own to share with the other spook enthusiasts.

Sign up here to attend this free, limited capacity event. (Library membership is not required.)

Friday, October 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM

For family and kid friendly storytelling fun, the Louisville Free Public Library is putting on a free Halloween event, Once Upon A Time, at their main branch.

The StageOne Family Theatre will be supplying the evening's haunting tales. There will be both tricks and treats at this affair; a magician will be performing magic tricks while yummy sweets are provided by the Library.

Find out more about Once Upon A Time here.

Saturday, October 26th from 4:00 to 5:30 PM

Come explore Kentucky's spooky side at Carmichael's Bookstore. Their Frankfort Ave store location will be hosting authors Roberta Simpson Brown and Lonnie E. Brown as they share ghost stories from their recently released book Kentucky Hauntings: Homespun Ghost Stories & Unexplained History. Their diverse, fact based narratives about Kentucky’s paranormal activity and history will certainly manage to leave everyone thinking a creepy thought later that night as they try to sleep. An open mic will also be available for guests to share scary stories of their own.

Be sure to RSVP on Facebook if you’d like to attend.
