39th Annual Taste of Louisville 2012

How often do you get to dress like a flapper and do the Charleston? Well, I do that in front of my bedroom mirror every morning, but it’s probably been a while for you! :)

This Wednesday, October 17th, is the 39th Annual Taste of Louisville 2012 at the Mellwood Arts Center from 6 to 9 PM. The theme is “Speakeasy”, so guests are encouraged to dress like flappers and gangsters from the 1920s and dance the night away to live jazz swing music played by Billy Goat Strut Revue.

This event is put together by the Kentucky Restaurant Association’s Louisville Chapter, and 50% of proceeds from ticket sales will benefit this year’s chosen charity, Community Health Charities, as well as the Kentucky Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.

Guests may eat and drink as many samples as they want from over 50 local food exhibitors, including Kern’s Kitchen, Bristol Bar and Grille, Lynn’s Paradise Café, The Brown Hotel, Makers Mark, Seviche, and many more!

There will also be a Beer and Wine Garden with delicious samples from local brewers and vintners as they gear up for the Fall and Winter season, as well as a cocktail competition, sponsored by Republic National Distributing, that will showcase the Prohibition era-style cocktails that are currently trendy in the culinary world. Contributors include BBC, Cumberland Brews, Falls City, Against the Grain, Kentucky Ale, Smith-Berry Winery, Lover’s Leap Winery, and several more!

A silent auction will help raise funds for the chosen charities, and a gallery will be set up to display local art donations. This event, THE original Taste of Louisville, has raised $577, 000 in fundraising revenue since its inception in 1973.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.thetasteoflouisville.com or over the phone at (502) 581-0203.

There will also be a “Speakeasy Flapper” around town selling tickets, so look out for her!

Also, be sure to dress appropriately for the 20s theme so you can use the photo booth for fun souvenirs!
