    The Filson Historical Society is hosting an evening of Beards, Bouffants, and Bourbon on Thursday, November 7 from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. This fabulous follicle frolic is open to the public; tickets are $5.00 for members of the Filson Historical Society and $10.00 for non-members. 

    Farm to Fork Catering will be serving several kind of hors d'oevres including beef, horseradish and chive biscuits; pimento goat cheese sandwiches and savory chicken salad in phyllo cup. A warm bourbon cider punch will be served, as well as wine and beer. Food and beverages are included in the prices of admission.  

    At 7:30 and 9:00pm storytellers will tell "hair-raising" tales from the Filson's collection, most notably the story of Peg Chenoweth, who survived being scalped. At 8:00 pm the guests are welcome to participate in a "Hair Contest" with categories like best mustache,  best beard, and best hairstyles found in the Filson's collection.  

    The event will be graced by a barber shop quartet from members of the Kentucky Vocal Union Men's Chorus. Other local musicians will perform, including Dane Waters, Wes Abplanalp, Aaron Rosenblum and Lowe Sutherland. The Filson will also provide a photo booth. 

    The Filson Historical Society is located at the Ferguson Mansion,1310 South 3rd St, in Old Louisville. Founded in 1884, the Filson is an independent organization committed to preserving the stories of the area. Reservations for the event can be made here
