    Helado Negro

Helado Negro, an experimental electronic project of Roberto Lange, will play at Zanzabar this Sunday to promote his new album, Invisible Life. While he has been making music under Helado Negro since 2009, he has also been part of ROM, Epstein, and Boom & Birds. Invisible Life marks the first time Lange has written songs in English, departing from an all-Spanish repertoire.

For Invisible Life, Lange has collaborated with Jon Philpot of Bear in Heaven, Jan St. Werner of Mouse on Mars, Devendra Barnhart, Matt Crum, and Eduardo Alonso.

Haven’t heard of Helado Negro? You can download “Dance Ghost” here, and you can listen to his “Shaking Through” session here. And, of course, Invisible Life is available to stream on Spotify. But for less than ten dollars, you can see him perform live on Sunday. That’s a bargain if I ever heard one – directly supporting an artist and a local venue for a little more than the loose change that can probably be gathered from around your apartment.  He’ll be joined on stage by Jason Ajemian on the electric bass, and Shedding will open the show.

The weather predicts a low of 51 degrees for Sunday, perfect weather for Helado Negro’s chill electronic pop. The show is 21+, so bring a spring jacket and relax with your drink of choice while experiencing some new music. The doors open at 8, and the music starts at 9. Tickets are six dollars in advance and eight at the door. Zanzabar, 2100 South Preston Street, 502-635-9227. Buy tickets in advance here.
