How is your head? While a great many of us spend decidedly more time fussing over the exterior of our craniums, the oh-so-very-important inner dimensions can sometimes be ignored until the proverbial squeaky wheel begs for oil. We are nothing without our brains. Quite literally. A mass of meat and keratin and some other interesting mush with no purpose unless those synapses fire along on their merry way. It is time you worried about more than your hair when it comes to your head, and the Library is ready to lead the way. As part of the Boom Time Series, the Louisville Free Public Library presents Dr. Robert Friedland tomorrow, Wednesday, January 18th at 6pm for you and your brain to enjoy.
The second in an ongoing series during the months of January and February, Boom Time is a special program designed specifically for the Baby Boomer generation as they reach the golden years. Covering a wealth of topics ranging from urban farming to creative pursuits, this month’s theme, To Your Good Health, focuses on the physical side of aging gracefully. Learn how best to keep your cogs wound and running with Dr. Robert Friedland’s presentation, Your Brain.
Currently serving as the Rudd Chair of Neurology at the University of Louisville, Dr. Robert Friedland will focus his mind on saving yours. Tomorrow’s Boom Time presentation, Your Brain, will probe into the inner workings of Alzheimer’s disease and how best to defend your noggin from the onset of the memory-killer. Featuring insights as to how the brain ages and what tips, tricks and tools can be used to keep the mind sharp, Dr. Friedland will explain all things brain and offer some book suggestions for follow up food-for-thought.
Tomorrow’s Your Brain discussion will be held at the Louisville Library’s Main branch and will be moderated by Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt, a board-certified family physician and the new director of the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness. A question and answer session will follow Dr. Friedland’s presentation. Make a little more room in your head for some top-notch brain power knowledge (just don’t forget anything important in the process).
The Library’s Main branch is located at 301 York St
