Who says a restaurant can't have their grand opening at lunch on a Tuesday?

If you have a generous lunch hour and want to show off your insider knowledge, take your coworkers to this new Butchertown "gastropub". I missed out on the preview night, but the very enthusiastic rumor mill of people sticking out their tongues and singing, "Nyah nyah I got to try it first" say the menu is like French Cuisine meets Southern Home Cooking. I've also been told that as someone who loves Mexican chocolate with a nice hot bite to it, I absolutely have to try the Spicy Sangria.

In the spirit of keeping it local, the custom bar and tables were made by fellow Butchertown business J.C. Woodartisan at The Butchertown Market. You can find them one block away from The Butchertown Pointe and easy access to the East Market end of downtown.

A website with a menu is supposed to be up by this weekend. I have no idea what they'll be serving for lunch on opening day, but the owner said a sneak preview of the dinner menu is likely to include Spaghetti Alla Puttanesca, Cassoulet, Pan Roasted Cod with Fresh Chorizo and Pilaf, and Shepherds Pie.

The Blind Pig opens to the public starting at 11:00 today. Do you really have better plans for lunch? I thought not.
