The March of Dimes Ohio Valley Division will host the 6th annual “Birdies for Babies Golf Classic” on Monday, June 8, 2009 at the Bardstown Country Club at Maywood. (The rain date is Thursday, June 11, 2009.) Lunch will be served at 11:00 a.m. and the Classic will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start. The cost is $600 per 4-person team, or $150 per person, and all proceeds will help support the March of Dimes’ campaign to fight premature birth, infant death, and birth defects. “We are fortunate to have Bardstown Country Club owners Chris and Allison Osborne as a sponsor of this popular event each year,” says Jenny Druschke, Ohio Valley Division Director for the March of Dimes. “They have been kind enough to donate their club, food, time and energy for the past five years because they have close ties with the March of Dimes.”

The Osborne’s daughter Caroline was born at only 26 weeks weighing 2 lbs and barely longer than a ruler. The Osborne’s were lucky and Caroline is now a healthy, beautiful 10- year-old. “We do this event every year because we are blessed,” says Allison Osborne, co-owner of the Bardstown Country Club. “However, we also know that not every baby is as lucky as Caroline, so we are passionate about raising money for the March of Dimes to give every baby a healthy start. The money raised from this event will help save lives and improve birth outcomes for families in the local community as well as babies across America.”

The Classic is a shamble format and consists of 5-person teams. Each team will include four amateur players and one KPGA Pro. Players can bring their club pro or be assigned one.
