You know it’s looming around the corner: your coworkers are whistling carols and secretly shopping on-line; your street is lined with tiny white lights. Whether we’re ready or not, Christmas is coming to Louisville. Bring the spirit to your brood with a few of the events coming soon to the area...
The 25th Bardstown Rd. Aglow will light up the streets this Saturday, December 4th beginning at dusk. The event will feature special sales from area vendors, a visit from Santa at Bearnos around 6:00pm, free trolley rides, and plenty of caroling, bagpiping, and carrying-on. BBC beer specials and free glow-bracelets will round out the night, ending around 10:00pm.
If lights are ignite you, The Louisville Mega Cavern also offers a spectacular (I’ve heard) underground light show during the holiday season. Load up the kids and buttered popcorn and enjoy the 30-40 minute ride through the 17 mile underground passageway lit by 2,000,000 points of lights and over 500 holiday characters. Take that Griswolds.
The Louisville Zoo also offers Santa’s Safari beginning December 11-12 and again the 18-19th in sessions beginning at 10, 12, and 2:00pm. Santa will visit the Gheen’s Room in the Islands Pavilion, accompanied by Mrs. Claus and the elves. Coffee, milk, and cookies as well as a free picture with Santa are included as well as crafts and caroling. Tickets are required and on sale now at www.louisvillezoo.org
