Cowboy, our 11 year-old mutt, was part of my husband's life before I was.  When my husband and I started dating, I first had to win over the dog, and over the years he's morphed from the rambunctious, chewing, lick-aholic only child to the borderline sedate wallflower in the corner.  His status as alpha-dog has been stolen away by two children that ride him and poke at every orifice.  He's never bit them, his loyalty transcends mine.  He is our family.

Next Saturday, September 25th, the Louisville Zoo will partner with The Kentucky Humane Society to host a pet adoption event from 10:00-2:00.  Pets of the domestic kind can be adopted on the spot by those meeting the necessary criteria.  All animals will be spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated.  Metro Animals services will also present training demonstrations and helpful tips to use with household pets at the Meta Zoo Stage at 11, 12, and 1 PM.

Odie and Garfield will be available for photos and hugs inside the zoo.  Outside the zoo, Sam Swope Auto Group will display a host of pet-friendly cars and accessories.  The pet adoption and Swope displays will take place in the bus parking lot and do not require paid admission, however all events inside the zoo require a normal paid ticket.

If you and your family are looking for that special furry creature that completes the clan, try a trip to the zoo and adopt a pet that needs a good home.
