    Annmarie's Art Breakfast on Derby

Everyone in our fair city is currently all aflutter with distinctive Loo-ah-vul pride. It's almost Derby time. Mint Juleps are being prepped, fabulous Derby hats are meeting final testing-one-two-three mirror checks, and bow ties are carefully laid out in colorful array. We live for this time of year. Theme party decor is well under way. However you choose to best celebrate this beloved tradition, what better way to start off Derby festivities the day-of gracefully strong thoroughbred racing than with brunch in NuLu? The 5th Annual Annmarie’s Art Breakfast on Derby will be taking place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. tomorrow, May 3rd. Make sure to venture to the Nucleus Innovation Center on 300 East Market Street to kick off Derby Day with artistic fun.

    Annmarie's Art Breakfast on Derby

Alcohol and Derby time pair so well together. Mimosas are an ideal way to toast to Derby brunch!

Any and all older than 18 years of age are invited to attend this breakfast buffet. The Lomenta Foundation supports college art students through scholarships, an amazing help to our Kentuckiana pool of gifted artists. Sponsored by Breakout Creative, Earthblends, Rooibee Red Tea, and First Capital Bank, be ready to quench your May thirst with some local, organic, flavorful tea. Not only will you see all kinds of amazing art, but the art ambassadors will be there personally exhibiting their work you can buy. It's always terrific to put a name to a face when you behold a moving piece of art. You can bid on whatever catches your eye at a silent art auction with Johnny Doughnut Experience bringing you a sweet fusion of reggae, jazz, and rock. For all those who associate Derby with luscious libations, you are in luck with a cash bar, featuring ever-delightful mimosas. For the fellow foodies, make sure to indulge in some egg creations, bacon (nothing like crispy and delicious bacon to begin a Derby morning), fruit, quiches, cheeses, muffins, scones, breads, and decadent desserts. In addition to the musical entertainment, also prepare to be wowed by Mitch Lustig's artistic acrobatics and singer and Murray State University Grace Lauzon's melodious stylings.

    Annmarie Lomenta Foundation

A snapshot of Annmarie Campbell fulfilling her life's passion. This is what she loves.

Hostess Dawn Marie Yankeelov founded the Lomenta Foundation in 2012 to honor her late daughter Annmarie Campbell, an adventurous artist full of heart. She poured that heart into her artwork. Annmarie Campbell was one of our very own. Louisville-raised, Annmarie was a passionate artist and Murray State art graduate who had a clear grasp on the beautiful facets present even in the midst of life's harrowing trials. She passed away in 2006, but her mother is keeping her memory alive through the spirit of art. Tomorrow, thanks to Annmarie's dedicated mother, there will be an exhibition of Annmarie's work, along with other selected arts and crafts.

All the proceeds of this fundraiser benefit two worthy causes: the Annmarie Campbell Art Scholarship fund at Murray State University, Annmarie's alma mater, and the Bernheim Forest Annmarie Campbell Zen Garden.  The Lomenta Foundation fund gives other talented and ambitious artists like Annmarie the chance any of us want: to follow their dreams. Artists can submit up to eight pieces for sale at a booth or table they can call their own. This charity simply asks that 25% of all sales sold during the event be donated to the Lomenta Foundation fund. At least one piece of work for the silent auction additionally is also greatly appreciated.

Purchase your $35.00 ticket through Showclix. Or if you prefer via telephone, definitely call 502-292-2351 to leave your reservation for tomorrow. Put on your Derby shoes and begin the magnificent day with art, delicious food, and the feeling of knowing you are simultaneously giving back to your community. It's an automatic winning ticket.
