    Print this page

The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts has launched a new internship program called ACTIV8 for college juniors or seniors who enjoy the performing arts.  The program's mission is "that each student exits the program with a broader understanding of the connections between the arts, cultural diversity, quality education, economic development, and government which will instill upon them how important it is to support arts organizations."

Some of the perks of being a program participant include an honorary MembersFirst membership, free tickets, networking, and the invaluable experience gained.  Participants of all majors of study are encouraged to apply.  The actual program starts August 22, 2012, but applications are due by March 23, 2012.  Click here for more information, application, and recommendation form. This is by far one of the coolest performing arts internships available in the Louisville area.  The Kentucky Center is also accepting 8-12 applicants, so you have a great chance of being selected!

The Kentucky Center has three main performance halls: the Robert S. Whitney Hall with roughly 2,400 seats, Moritz von Bomhard Theatre with approximately 600 seats, and the Boyd Martin Theatre, better known as "The MeX," with around 100 seats.  The 1,400 seat Brown Theatre at 315 W Broadway is also managed by The Kentucky Center.  The Kentucky Center was voted best venue for music, theater, and dance by the readers of Kentucky Monthly magazine.

In addition to top notch performances, the Kentucky Center offers various community arts programs including Education ProgramsThe MeX Theater InitiativeArtsReach, and Arts in Healing.  If you end up being an ACTIV8 participant you will learn more about these programs.
