Although I'm a fashion contributor to Louisville.com, I consider my shopping expertise a valuable asset to the site's dear readers. Are you freaking out about what to get that that's interesting or at least different from last year's gift?

I was too - so I headed down to Frankfort Avenue to see what kinds of gift ideas I could scrounge up for Sunday's daddy celebration.

1.) For dads with younger kids (ages 3-10) try creating an artsy gift that is not only fun to make, but a gift that Dad can cherish forever. Clifton's Art Supply at 2005 Frankfort Avenue is run by artists for artists and can provide you with an 8x10 canvas for your child to draw a picture of her with her daddy. Frame it, wrap it, and have her give it to Dad to hang proudly in the house.

2.) If Dad's a reader or a history buff, check out Carmichael's Bookstore at 2720 Frankfort Avenue. As Louisville's oldest independent bookstore it's bound to have some, well, "bound" treasures (new and old) that Dad will appreciate.

3.) If Dad's a pizza eater - aren't they all? - then treat him to a pie at Clifton's Pizza at 2230 Frankfort Avenue. Make sure to order their huge twisted breadsticks as an appetizer - yum!

4.) If you want Dad to be a little more on-trend or at least unique in what he wears, you might want to check out Evolve Consignments at 2416 Frankfort Avenue. This men's consignment store is upscale with quality garments -  add to this the affordability factor and you've got a winning gift idea!

5.) If Dad's worried about his summer physique you could purchase him a few personal training sessions from Fitness on Frankfort at 2726 Frankfort Avenue. A gym that's Musclehead-free and open 7 days a week helped rank them as 3rd best gym in Louisville by Leo Readers. Call for information at 895-4321.

6.) If your dad is as obsessed with coffee as mine is, you could provide a great bag o' beans that's 100% organic, fair trade, and shade grown from Heine Brothers at 2714 Frankfort Avenue. Pick up a few other treats like raw, local honey, an organic chocolate bar, or a delicious dessert and you've got a great gift that Dad will hopefully share.

7.) If Dad's an outdoorsman he'll appreciate some new hiking gear from Quest Outdoors at 2330 Frankfort Avenue. As your local source for Patagonia, North Face, and Marmot clothing as well as backpacks, tents, and all of the accessories you could possible dream of, Quest is the best spot for all things hiking.

    About Elise Jenkins

I'm a shopping addict on a budget who loves everything from one-of-a-kind boutique finds to the clearance sales at Macy's. I celebrate the small things in life, like $8 Gap jeans, the perfect V-neck tee at Target, and Zappos outlet sales. My passions include ridiculously high heeled shoes, celebrity gossip, chocolate, fashion photography, coffee, Muse, gin, and my amazingly patient boyfriend and his vivacious 4 year old who isn't afraid to tell me when my shirts are "soooo ugly!" I write a style blog called "TheShoportunist.com" which is a reflection of my love for all things fashion.
