15Thousand Farmers, an organization with a mission to teach people to seed and feed themselves, is hosting a reoccurring workshop--"The Very, Very Basics: Beginning Food Growing 101"--which is, well, pretty basic. The course is meant to ease beginners into growing food, yard or no yard. According to the instructors, the workshop covers "step by step instructions for where to plant, what to plant, when to plant, how to water your plants and how to compost simply at home to help build soil fertility."

The workshop is scheduled to take place Mar 26th and every other Saturday that follows excluding the Saturday of Derby. The workshop lasts from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Dismas St. Ann's, 1515 Algonquin Parkway, location of 15Thousand Farmers' "Growing Food and Community Center". The organization suggests a $10 donation (or whatever you can afford) which supports the continuation of the organization and its mission to expose people to the simplicity of cultivating food for themselves.

The workshop will be taught by members of the 15Thousand Farmers' Workshop Team, Gary Heine and Micki Wilcox. As to what kind of feedback the organization has received from past workshop participants, Gary says, "A number of people told us how amazed they were that growing food was so easy! And they couldn't wait to get started. Others said the workshop gave them the courage to plant some seeds and they did."
