Whatever your basketball allegiance as a Kentuckian, you’re probably experiencing March Sadness right now: watching other teams from other states vie for the championship. In sympathy and in an attempt to help, here’s how we think you should try to live through the rest of March Madness with your Zen intact. There’s always next year!

Sweet Sixteen – March 24/25:
We all have a lot of strong feelings right now: anger, sadness, confusion. What better way to work out these negative emotions than with yoga? Rainbow Blossom is having a week-long yoga event. The Taste of Yoga event is happening from March 20 – 26 (3046 Bardstown Rd.), and all yoga classes are free.
If you’re looking for something beyond a yoga class, the Louisville Salt Cave (9800 Shelbyville Rd #200) is having a Chi Kung/ Qi Gong event on March 24. According to the Facebook Event, “In this class participants will learn to simple slow movements to raise chi and to sense it within their bodies. They will also learn some meditative techniques to help them purify, balance, and concentrate their chi within their bodies. The respiratory benefits of the salt cave will help to enhance the deep breathing practice.”
In case a holistic approach isn’t your style, there are several more (alcoholic) ways to feel better: On March 24th, El Mundo (2345 Frankfort Ave) has $4 house margaritas all day, DiOrio’s Pizza (310 Wallace Ave) has trivia, and Four Pegs (1053 Goss Ave) has an open mic night. For March 25th, there is a happy hour at Bourbon Raw (446 S 4th St) and karaoke at the Bard’s Town (1801 Bardstown Rd). Rapper Flo Rida’s concert at 4th Street Live is also on Friday, and should provide a non-basketball-related good time. The Monkey Wrench (1025 Barett Ave.) will also be hosting their own March Sadness event complete with watching the last three National Championship Games, as well several drink specials. Wearing red is reported to be mandatory.

Elite Eight – March 26/27:
Next, it’s on to the weekend with even more sad and lost feelings. One of the best ways to calm down is with a little fresh air and retail therapy. Enter the Flea Off Market (1007 E Jefferson). Lucky for you, this Flea Market is on both Saturday and Sunday.
Keeping it outdoorsy, you could also attend the NuLu Bock Fest (700 Market St.) on March 26th.

Final 4 – April 2:
Escape from your regret by losing yourself in a theatre production. Louisville is packed with great actors and wonderful theatres: Actors Theatre of Louisville (316 W Main St) is running several shows during this time, including (but not limited to) “The Wellesley Girl” and “This Random World.” Derby Dinner Playhouse (525 Marriott Dr, Clarksville, IN) is also running “Into The Woods” and “Charlotte’s Web.”
The Louisville Tattoo Arts Convention is happening from April 1-3 at the Convention Center (221 S 4th St). Whether you're after a #BNN/#L1C4 tattoo, or just a tattoo fan, this is the place for you.

Championship – April 4th:
The final day. At this point, a little comedy might be in order. The Silver Dollar (1761 Frankfort Ave) has a Monday night comedy show with free food and free stand-up. You can participate, or just go for a laugh (and the drinks are awesome).
Haymarket (331 E Market St) is also having a vinyl night with free pizza. Haymarket is partnering with TINCUP Whiskey and Jose Cuervo, so there should also be exciting giveaways and drink specials. If you bring a record, they’ll play it.
Whatever you’re feeling at the moment, you’re not alone. Fans for teams in every city mourn and celebrate together. Louisville provides the perfect atmosphere to share a pint or a pizza with a fellow die-hard fan who can always remind you that there’s always next season.
