I'm still fighting it, too.
Zac Brown Band had an enthusastic audience..so much so that I was warned by staff to leave a certain area because I'm small.
While a lot of people came for acts such as Ben Folds, Huey Lewis and
the News, or Loretta Lynn, the headliners really dictated the
atmosphere each night at HullabaLOU.
Being from Oklahoma myself, of course I'm biased towards friendly hipster kids from my home state. They also happen to be darn good musicans, though the bassist could make a good living on the side as a Shawn White impersonator.
The super personable boys from Tonic talk about only getting 20 days
off in 2 years and fistfights outside small bars. These things are
allegedly unrelated.
Look at that photo. I'm downright embarassed by the lack of a crowd for a band this good.
The shuttle ride from the Ford/UPS free parking out to Churchill Downs is an education in interesting fans.
The Right Reverend Al Green is made of class. The man came onto stage
in triple digit temperatures wearing a full tuxedo with a boquet of
roses for the audience - and let me tell you, I wanted one.
