Taste of Innovation, the signature party of IdeaFestival, brings together unlimited food and spirits from some of the region’s most creative chefs, restaurants, brewers, distillers and mixologists. The event takes place at Churchill Downs – Millionaire’s Row 4 in Louisville, KY, Gate 17 on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. While food is one of our most basic necessities, its sophistication continues to fascinate people around the world. Taste of Innovation celebrates not only taste, but also preparation, presentation, health, sustainability, packaging and art.

Taste of Innovation is presented by Churchill Downs, Brown-Forman, York Management, Preston-Osborne and Xstreme Media. The food theme for the 2011 Taste of Innovation is “Innovative Farm to Table,” in which all participants are requested to use fresh ingredients from within a 150-mile radius, when possible. The beverage theme is “Ice” and will highlight innovative elements involving all things ice and water.

Taste of Innovation attendees will be treated to a live demonstration by Chef Bobby Benjamin of The Oakroom (Kentucky's only AAA Five-Diamond Awarded Restaurant) and Chef/Owner Anthony Lamas (recent Extreme Chef & James Beard Nominee) of Seviche. Chefs Benjamin and Lamas will use liquid nitrogen as a key element in their show to create a seviche serving bowl by spinning flavor inside a balloon, sear foie gras using an anti-griddle and freeze alcohol to create a cool cocktail.

A second demonstration will be offered by Chef Jo-Jo, Levy’s Restaurant at Churchill Downs, and Chef Dallas McGarity, three time James Beard House guest chef and executive partner and chef at Marketplace Restaurant.  Taste of Innovation also will offer a silent auction, with proceeds going to the IdeaFestival Student Scholarship fund.

Participating restaurants include Anchorage Café, August Moon Chinese Bistro, Asiatique, Bourbon’s Bistro, Comfy Cow, Creation Gardens, Grasshoppers Distribution, Harvest, Jamie’s 14K Cupcakes, Kern’s Kitchen, Krispy Krunchy Chicken, Le Gallo Rosso Bistro, Levy’s Restaurant – Churchill Downs, Lilly’s Bistro, Marketplace Restaurant, Meridian Café, The Oakroom, Proof on Main, Seviche – A Latin Restaurant, Shalimar Indian Restaurant and Volare.

    About Bella Portaro

Happiness Cultivator. Blogger. Writer. Social Media and PR Maven. Dreamer. Louisville Lover. Blogger at Bella of Louisville; a lifestyle blog. A lifestyle is- by definition to me - the way in which one chooses to live their life. As I’ve entered into this chapter / book of my life with a strong understanding of who I am, lifestyle has become about the art of living well. This idea goes beyond creating a beautiful home and investing in my wardrobe. Living well means being kind, being good company, contributing to your community, and becoming a person of substance and grace. If designing a life full of substance and grace isn’t aspirational, I don’t know what else is. I love writing about events and things to do in Louisville. I hope you enjoy my posts and connect with me on social media!
