The seventh annual Pink Tie Ball benefiting Susan G. Komen – Louisville Affiliate took place Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Marriott Downtown Louisville. It was an amazing evening for all who attended the Pink Tie Ball and Pink Lounge. From survivors and their families to supporters, the celebration was just another reminder of how precious life truly is. The event presenting sponsor was ICAP Energy.
The proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure – Louisville Affiliate. Susan G. Komen’s promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. Started by Nancy G. Brinker when she promised her dying sister Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise turned into Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement.
Komen Louisville Affiliate founded in 1999, has steadily grown since. The Affiliate’s proudly contributed over $3.5 million dollars to community breast health education, screening, and treatment programs and over $1.3 million dollars to breast cancer research. In 2011 they added 7 additional counties to the already existing 8 county service area, bringing their service area to 15 counties.
All in attendance had a great evening; there were smiles all around and dancing to the great sounds from Burning Las Vegas; a Nashville funk, rock, rhythm and blues soul band. After an opening from the Mayor, emcee Claudia Coffey and the Event Chair Sarah Mitchell, the live auction took place with great lifetime experience packages from local businesses and prominent community figures.
Countless local and national businesses also donated to the Premier Pink Silent Auction and the Pink Lounge Raffle. It was without a doubt an amazing showing of support through their generous donations that were being bid on by so many attendees.
Extraordinary Events President Lisa Cofer, co-founded the Komen Louisville Pink Tie Ball in 2005 as a Board member and volunteer. Since 2009 she has led the efforts of the Volunteer Executive Committee to produce and execute the Pink Tie Ball. Bailey Bundy Hoard is a an event coordinator for Cofer’s company and both ladies contribute much to the event; before, during and after.
