Younger Sibling first birthdays are a pain in the butt. Trust me, I am one of ten kids! Parents way over-hype the blessed younger one’s first birthday. They over-estimate their value, their impact and lavish them with gifts the older kids never got. So with that in mind, what do you get a beautiful, popular and clearly better than it’s older sibling 1 year old? Especially a one year old that has already had one night stands with Lady Gaga, Rush, Kid Rock, George Strait, Katy Perry, Brad Paisley, Sade and John Legend.
The KFC YUM Center is 1 today. I was skeptical at first, but it has completed over-achieved in the first year. As a music lover, you need to stop for a second today and give thanks for the “bucket". It’s brought a boatload of musical talent to the banks of the Ohio. Remember, just a couple of years ago you had to drive to Indy, Cincy or Nashville to get the BIG SHOWS?
Plus, The KFC YUM Center sounds better, looks better, and well, does everything better than older brother FREEDOM HALL. Don’t get nostalgic and tell me you miss Ring Road or the smell of burnt nacho cheese and horse manure that permeated every inch of the Hall.
Today is the FIRST BIRTHDAY for the KFC YUM Center in downtown Louisville. And at the risk of sounding like a too proud parent, It is a blessed event indeed. And it brings with it the best present, officials say that it will turn a profit in it’s first year! HAPPY FREAKIN’ BIRTHDAY!
