From scantily dressed back-up dancers to exploding fire-balls, Kid Rock’s debut at the KFC Yum! Center was entertaining to say the least.
While he may not be the most musically credible at times, Rock has managed to survive the late ‘90s scene and continue on for another decade. Rock’s fan base stretches across several genres. While he started as a rapper, he transitioned into rap rock with his breakout, “Devil Without a Cause.” He continued on producing strait-up southern rock songs before diving head first into the extremely marketable pop country genre.
Throughout his show Friday, one couldn’t help but like Rock and be entertained by his show.
The show was loud and heavy. There wasn’t much country about it. Rock and his 10-piece band dug through hit after hit from each of his albums. Rock mentioned the US Armed Forces several times throughout the show and he even went as far as to explain to the audience that Jim Beam (his sponsor) has made it possible for him to keep ticket prices low. By the way, tickets cost anywhere between $30 and $80.
But whatever, artists and bands like Ted Nugent, Kiss and Aerosmith can’t tour forever and anything’s better than a Nickelback show, so attending a future Kid Rock show isn’t out of the question.
