    Bit to Do

    Worldfest 2013

This Labor Day Weekend, the Belvedere will be home to the various cultures that make Louisville such a unique city.  The 11th annual Worldfest takes place from August 30th -September 2nd and there will be something to please everyone.  Local and international music will be featured on three different stages. Craft booths will display and sell homemade products from Africa, Asia, Europe and South America.  The Global Village showcases 22 different countries with a 10x20 visual area, describing their native lands.  On the second day of the festival, there will be a parade of cultures featuring local and regional residents in their native dress.   Free activities are available for children, creating a wonderful cultural learning experience.  These are just some of the attractions of Worldfest, one of the region's largest international festivals.  And of course, my favorite of all of these features is the cuisine!  There are literally a world of cultures represented, including Germany, Thailand, Jamaica, Ethiopia and more, so bring your appetite.  Local vendors include restaurants such as Thai Taste, Dish on Market, Asiatique and Taj Palace Indian Restaurant.  If you are just in the mood for a drink, Ramiro's Cantina will be there to make a refreshing margarita on one of the hot summer days this weekend.

Get out and enjoy what Louisville has to offer. After all, Kentucky Travel Industry Association gave Worldfest the Judge's Recognition Award for its Fall Top 10 Festivals and Events. Click the link below for a full schedule of events.
