Most people who know me know that I adore my bourbon. This is in conjunction with a huge love of food and an attempt at a somewhat healthy lifestyle. When I found this new product on a recent visit to the gorgeous Woodford Reserve distillery, I had to pick it up and give it a try.
As far as the ingredients go, this is a very simple dressing. It has so few ingredients, in fact, that I will list them for you here, in the order listed on the bottle: sorghum, apple cider vinegar, salad oil, Woodford Reserve bourbon, salt, onion powder, paprika and Tabasco. These few ingredients, however, pack a huge flavor. I personally have a huge appreciation for great foods that don't require a long list of preservatives and food additives, which is definitely what you find here.
This dressing is so flavorful that it stands really well on its own. Even drizzling a bit of it just on some baby spinach leaves for a quick salad seems to do the trick. If you have the time and supplies, add some slivered almonds, sundried tomatoes or mushrooms for a full-fledged and simple meal.
The Bourbon Sorghum Vinaigrette dressing is currently available at the Woodford Reserve distillery, which is absolutely beautiful, historic and worth the short trip from Louisville. If you prefer to order from home though, you can also do that at www.bourbonbarrelfoods.com.
