It’s hard not love Wilco.  The band that started out humbly as “The new thing that guy from Uncle Tupelo has been doing,” two decades later has turned into one of the most well-respected bands in the world.  Not to mention the fact that their landmark fourth album “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” is often hailed as the best album of the new millennium, and generally included on countless “best of all-time lists.”

The group’s endless tour itinerary has made them an enigmatic live show where the band can slide anywhere from noise rock, blues, punk rock, country, to indie-pop while touching every genre in between.

Wilco hasn’t released a new studio album since 2011’s “The Whole Love” – but they did release a box set last year called “Alpha Mike Foxtrot” that gathered live recordings, b-sides, and demos spanning the band’s career.

Wilco will be performing tomorrow night, May 8th, at Iroquois Amphitheater.  The show begins at 7:30 and Steve Gunn will be opening.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
