A while back, on a whim, I decided to learn Tai Chi. I didn't really know much about it, but it looked so interesting!  So I showed up at the International Taoist Tai Chi Society's Kentucky branch in Hikes Point and immediately felt welcome.  In the beginning class, you learn -- literally step by step -- the sequence of the 108 moves of the Tai Chi Chuan (taijiquan) set, "the art of longevity and health."

The classes are ideal for people of any age and there are health benefits as well such as reducing tension, increasing flexibility and strength, and improving circulation and balance. There was something very soothing about performing the moves slowly, and in sync, with a group of people in quiet room.

I'm proud to say that after about six months, I actually DID learn all 108 moves. Do I remember them all now?  Well, um, I think it's time to go back for a refresher course!
