It will be a great weekend for a new Hike, Bike and Paddle this Monday, May 26. Memorial Day brings the Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Subway Fresh Fit event at Waterfront Park on the Great Lawn.

While boat drop-off begins at 7:00 a.m., get yourself situated for your choice of activities. Kicking off at 8:00 a.m. is the KentuckyOne Health Four de Lis 5K race. To get warmed up and loose, you’ll have yoga, tai chi, Zumba and NIA going on, as well.

Route pickup, plus free water bottles, t-shirts and food for fuel will keep you busy until the hiking, biking and paddling officially start at 10:00 a.m. Note: If you are hiking with strollers or dogs, please be mindful of the order of start times.

Whether you are participating or cheering others on, be sure to check the road closure and no parking schedule, as it is quite complicated.

Where are you going to be, exactly? Here are the routes for each group:

    Biking Route

    Paddling Route

More free stuff: You can pick up free passes to the Kentucky Reggae Festival, happening at the Water Tower on Memorial Day at the Festival’s booth at the Waterfront.

    Enjoy the day!

    About Kachina Shaw

A transplanted Hawkeye, I've now lived in Louisville longer than any other city. Can't live without: my husband and fur babies, coal-black coffee, peanut M&Ms, sunflowers, monthly vacations, books, walking paths, massage and a big purse.
