    Bit to Do

With snow flurries and high temperatures in the 30s, it seems that winter is in full swing in Louisville. It is the perfect time to visit the Louisville Mega Caverns to warm up with their annual holiday fest, Lights Under Louisville.

Since the temperature inside the Mega Caverns is set at a relatively balmy 56 degrees, most guests need only a light jacket while traveling through the 100 acre man-made cavern located under the Louisville Zoo. The cavern offers tours year-round, but during the winter holiday season, it is decorated with over 2 million twinkling lights and jolly exhibits. Guests drive their own vehicles through the show, which takes approximately 40 minutes.

On these cold winter evenings, it is the perfect time to load your family into your car with a Thermos of hot chocolate and head underground to warm your bodies and spirits with this merry display.

The show runs November 19, 2010 through January 2, 2011.

Monday through Friday 6pm to 10pm

    Saturday & Sunday 5pm to 10pm

You can get a $5.00 discount coupon at 5/3 Bank or Wendy’s.

Admission is $25 for standard size vehicles. Please see the Louisville Mega Caverns website for more details.

    About Sarah Hinds

A graduate of Texas Tech University (Wreck 'Em, Tech!), I am a Native Texan who recently moved to Louisville, Kentucky. I have worked in the bridal and wedding industry for four years, and about a year ago, I decided to turn my hobby of photography into a side-business. I enjoy photographing portraits, events, and the beauty in every day objects and activities. I also enjoy traveling, blogging, watching musicals, and snuggling with my 8 year old Chow/Border Collie mix, Casey.
