As part of V-Week, U of L's PEACC program will present The Vagina Monologues beginning tonight.
The Vagina Monologues will take place on Feb. 14, 15, and 16 at 7 p.m. each night. All performances are to happen at The Playhouse, located on the U of L campus at 1911 S Third Street. (Look for the white, church-like building.)
Tickets for each show are $10 for adults and $8 for students and can be purchased at the U of L PEACC website. Keep in mind the show is not recommended for children as it contains mature themes.
The Vagina Monologues features women in short episodes discussing the vagina, mostly from the angle of female empowerment or individuality. Among the monologues that could be performed are My Angry Vagina, My Vagina Was My Village, Because He Liked to Look at It, and other titles.
Local actresses and U of L students will take part in the production, including Sunny Anbesse, Tara Bassett, Sylvia Cardwell Bruton, Cassidy Cramer, Grace Habermann, Heather Hadden, Emily Hendrick, Zoe Jackson, Meredith Jones, Lauren Meeker, Alee Meredith, Jhovann Nelson, Katie Partin, Emily Thomas, and Channey Williams. Guest narrators will also take the stage during the three show run.
