The Grateful Dead were technically no more when singer and guitarist Jerry Garcia died in August 1995 of a heart attack, but remaining members Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, Bob Weir, and Bill Kruetzmann have been involved in various different bands and reunions with each other since then.

According to the band that all comes to a close this summer. It was announced that at Chicago’s Soldier Field from July 3-5, the remaining four members of The Grateful Dead would reunite for the last time. The shows are in conjunction with the band’s 50th anniversary and have been dubbed “Fare Thee Well.”

For all the Dead Heads in Louisville, you can conveniently watch these concerts at Tinseltown movie theater in Springhurst. It is one of the 250 theaters across the country who will be broadcasting the concerts. Tickets are $15 each night. It is advertised to start at 8 p.m.

The Grateful Dead members will joined on stage in Chicago by Trey Anastasio (of Phish) on guitar, Jeff Chimenti (member of post-Grateful Dead bands The Dead and Furthur) on keyboards, and Bruce Hornsby (an unofficial member of The Grateful Dead from 1990-92) on piano.

Since the original announcement of Chicago shows, the group announced two shows at Levi’s Stadium on June 27-28 in San Francisco, finishing their career where the group started. In a letter to their fans, the group said, “Since we made the decision to go back to Chicago to say our final goodbye, it has become clear to us that we first need to return to our beginnings, where we first said hello – to each other and to all of you.”
