    Bit to Do

Take Your Favorite Furry Friend to The 11th Annual Bark in the Park and Woof Wal

Looking for something fun to do outside with your furry friend this September? The Animal Care Society's (ACS) 11th Annual Bark in the Park and Woof Walk takes place this Saturday, September 27 from 8 AM to 3 PM at Seneca Park off Cannons Lane, near the tennis courts.

The annual fundraiser for ACS consists of several events, namely the Woof Walk in the name of assisting a shelter by rounding up a team and pledging to complete the 5k walk, which begins at 8 AM. Anyone participating in the walk is encouraged to bring their dog along with them. If interested, you can pre-register for $25 on the ACS shelter's website at www.animalcaresociety.org, or register on the day of the event for $30. There are a number of contests to take place in as well:

Kissing Contest: This year, we’ll put “Puppy Love” to the ultimate test as our judges try to determine which pooch has the best smooch.

Howl-o-ween Costume Contest: Dogs rival humans celebrating Halloween when they dress in all sorts of costumes for this contest. Owners are welcome to get into the act, too!

Pet/Owner Look Alike Contest: This contest will stretch our judges’ imaginations as they try to figure out common features between people and their pets.

Dog of the Year: This is a day-long contest where pet lovers have submitted their precious pups' pictures in advance and the general public has the final vote with the almighty dollar. Submission accepted on or before September 21. Contact the shelter for details.

Additionally, there will be food, raffles, a silent auction, games, dog-themed booths, and inflatables for the little ones. If you'd like to have your pet micro-chipped, the Louisville Kennel Club will be on hand to provide the service for $20 from 10 AM until 2 PM.
