Is your dad a white-hat good guy? How about a superhero? Maybe he’s just a classic. In any case, he’ll be sure to appreciate the IU Southeast Orchestra in its annual Summer Pops concert this coming Sunday, June 19.

Under the direction of Dr. Joanna Goldstein, the orchestra will perform a varied program of popular and light classical selections, including a medley of movie Western themes from The Magnificent Seven, The Good, The Band and the Ugly and Hang ‘em High; music from X-Men composed by Michael Kamen; Hans Zimmer’s Gladiator and music from Lord of the Dance by Ronan Hardiman. There will also be performances of the enduring Paul Desmond/Dave Brubeck hit “Take Five” and a series of tunes from Michael Jackson.

The concert will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the Richard K. Stem Concert Hall of the Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center on the IU Southeast campus, 4201 Grant Line Road in New Albany. Tickets are $8 for adults or $5 for students, seniors, IU Southeast faculty and staff, and are available at the Ogle Center ticket office, at all Ticketmaster locations, by calling (800) 754-3000 or online at ticketmaster.com. Parking is free in the Dogwood lot directly in front of the Ogle Center. For more information on this performance, future performances, degree programs and scholarships offered by the IU Southeast Music Department, please visit www.ius.edu/music or call (812) 941-2655.
