    Sweet Surrender wedding cake

I am just going to flat out say it. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Sweet Surrender Dessert Cafe has the best cake in town. It is one of the top reasons I love Louisville. It is a place I reserve for outings with my best girls.

    Sweet Surrender

When my friends want to know where to satisfy their dessert cravings they come to me, as I am the resident sweet tooth of the bunch. I immediately suggest Sweet Surrender for something richly satisfying. It’s a charming Louisville original, located on Frankfort Avenue and filled with a treasure trove of dazzling, decadent cakes. One of my absolute favorites includes a Samoas Torte, which is Sweet Surrender’s re-envisioning of the greatest Girl Scout Cookie. Imagine layers of coconut, salted caramel, and chocolate ganache, blissfully blended. It is such a perfect combination of texture and taste: sticky, salty, and sweet. When my best friend and I had a girls’ day, I had to introduce her to this glorious concoction.

Cherry Cordial Cake, Banana Pudding Trifle, Cookies and Cream Cake, and Banana Split Cake.

I still always look for the Banana Split Cake, hoping it will make its return on one of my next visits. Some cakes are seasonal, which give you a try-your-luck-with-sugar-roulette sort of feel. Speaking of bananas, their Banana Chocolate Chip Rum Cake is a must.

    Steamed Lavender Milk.

I also love Sweet Surrender’s inventive drink pairings. You can go old school with a classic cold glass of milk with regular varieties or soy (definite vegetarian and vegan choices). You can also try out drinks like Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate or Steamed Lavender Milk. I love a place that finds an amazing way to infuse lavender. They do it so well.

Fun fact: The only clear vision I have of my one-day wedding is that I dream of a Sweet Surrender wedding cake. My best friend Kim and I ask about their exquisite bridal cakes and prices every time. So many times I go to weddings, I have such high standards for the wedding cake. And it rarely knocks my sweet tooth socks off.

    Sweet Surrender

Sweet Surrender cakes are not only heavenly and the ideal social experience (amazing cake is meant to be shared), but they are also entirely beautiful. The combination of both superb flavor and combination should be appreciated to the max.
