Louisville’s food and drink culture is inventive, whimsical and innovative. With more than 2,000 restaurants and bars our dining selection is impressive, but what about the people behind the plates? Let us not forget what it takes to have plethora of different dining experiences. It takes people willing to sacrifice normal sleeping habits and social lives.
Luckily there are few places in town acknowledging and appreciating those in our industry community. Service Industry Nights, also known as, SIN, are nights dedicated to those who work in hospitality. Usually on a Sunday or Monday restaurants and bars provide a social atmosphere, drink specials, and food for those who serve and are never served.
Here are five places hosting nights for those in the industry:
Every Sunday El Camino is a crowd favorite. Their service industry night features a free pig roast and movie. Specials start at 10:00 PM, but the line for free pig forms well before the clock strikes ten. Drink specials include $3.00 shots of 100% pure agave Olmeca Altos Plata and Buffalo Trace, as well as, $3.00 Tecate and Modelo Especial.
BONUS: While Sunday is the big shebang for industry people, El Camino also offers drink specials every night from 10:00 PM to 2:00 AM.
“Sucker Free Sundays” at Mag Bar aren’t specifically designated as a SIN, but might as well be. Every other Sunday the dive-bar hosts DJs, serves up free chicken wings and homefries. They also have $2.50 wells and $2.00 domestics. The good times start at 9:00 PM.
Haymarket has a Sunday service like no other. They offer “street prices for service folk 4:00 until close” with $2.00 beer, $4.00 bonded bourbons, free pinball, and free pizza.
Every Monday Silver Dollar serves up a free family style buffet and drink specials for those in the industry. Their specials and free food starts at 10:00 PM.
Service Industry Night with Kevin Cummings takes place every Monday starting at 7:00 PM. It’s happy hour all night here featuring $3.00 wells and domestics.
