It’s official, Louisville. Nate Ruess of the band Fun. is set to perform at Baxter’s 942 Bar & Grill in the Highlands on August 18th. But the ticket information and the time of the show have yet to be announced.

Earlier this month, 100.5 MY FM announced that the Fun. singer turned solo pop idol would be performing a “secret show” at the small but popular highlands bar…and that was it. The radio station is hosting a contest to win “lunch and drinks while watching an intimate performance from Nate Ruess" but no further details have been provided.

Baxter’s 942’s website doesn’t have a performance scheduled for August 18th on its events calendar, and Ticketmaster doesn’t have any August performance dates listed for Nate Ruess. Talk about secretive!

And such a secret performance is strangely surprising considering the singer’s impressively substantial stroke of fame with Fun.’s second album released in 2011, Some Nights. With the album’s wonderfully symphonic collection of radio megahits like the album’s title track along with “Carry On” and the winner of Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards, “We Are Young,” it’s safe to say that Fun. was had by all.

Nate Ruess’ powerful and inspiringly high voice is reminiscent of Queen’s Freddie Mercury and has been heard throughout today’s musical genres, including his collaborations with pop star Pink on her chart-topping hit, “Just Give Me a Reason” and with rapper Eminem on his emotional song, “Headlights.”

And after announcing Fun.’s hiatus earlier this year, Nate Ruess decided to continue creating music on his own until the band was ready to pick their instruments back up again. “Making records and touring when it’s ‘good for business’ means nothing to us. We make records and tour when we are inspired to do so,” Ruess said about the band’s temporary break in a recent interview with Rolling Stone.

And earlier this spring, Ruess released his first single as a solo artist, “Nothing Without Love,” which instantly became a hit.

It’s likely that more details about this secret show will emerge within the next week. But until then, the best way to increase your chances of attending the up close and personal performance with Nate Ruess is to enter 100.5 MY FM’s contest.
