Yew Dell Gardens in Crestwood, KY is a refuge of green beauty that will immediately put you at peace with yourself and the world at large. The perfume of roses hangs heavy in the air and the urge to sit a spell and read a Jane Eyre novel will seem so right you can’t explain it. This Friday, May 18th from 5-8 pm, Yew Dell Gardens will host a reception for other creations besides plant life. The 5th Annual Yew Dell Sculpture Show is a chance for regional artists to showcase their talent in the biggest garden art event of the year.

The range of mediums and styles of sculpture featured at the show are as varied as what is growing in the garden grounds. More traditional pieces like the whimsical limestone felines from artist Karen Terhune share space with the think-outside-the-box extension cord chandeliers from Beverly Glascock. The faint chime of the bronze Kudzu Bell from Wyatt Gragg is within earshot of the mythological god of the forest, Silvanus from artist Mike McCarthy.  Also this year, the work from several high school students in Oldham County is being featured. All artwork is for purchase.

Tickets to this event are $25 for members and $35 for non-members.  This includes heavy hors d’oeuvres prepared by The Cheddar Box, Limestone Restaurant, Mayan Café and the Wiltshire Pantry. Music provided by Thomas McShane and Hewn from the Mountain Music Café. Cash bar available.

The sculpture show will be on view through July 29, 2012. Yew Dell Gardens is located at 6220 Old LaGrange Road, Crestwood, KY.
