Witness the ritual and artistry of the 15th century theatre form known as Noh. Modern-day master Atsuyoshi Asano will present a demonstration of this Japanese art form invoving music, dancing, costumes and mythical themes tomorrow, Friday, April 8 at Bellarmine University.
Asano, a Noh master of the Kanze School in Kyoto, is a guest artist in the Fine Arts College at the University of Kentucky for the 2010-1011 academic year. His roots go back far in the world’s oldest theatre form—his ancestors, he has learned, were original Noh performers in the 1400s.
The demonstration and performance begin at 1 p.m. in Knights Hall and are free and open to the public.
