Eastern's Remy Abell is one of the hottest prospects in the state. The 6-foot-3 combo guard is starting to see his recruitment pick up. I caught up with Abell and spoke with him about his recruitment.
Abell is playing for Shining Stars-Davis this summer. They recently played in the Eddie Ford HoopFest in Louisville.
"The summer is going good," Abell said. "I really enjoy playing out here with the guys. I really enjoy playing for my coaches. I'm just out here trying to have fun. There are a lot of college coaches out at these AAU tournaments and I'm just trying to show what I got."
Abell averaged just under 14 points per game this past season, as he helped lead the Eagles to a 21-9 record. Abell has been one of the state's top prospects sine he was a sophomore.
"Playing this summer has helped out a lot," Abell said. "I'm getting a lot of exposure out here playing in different tournaments. We are just going to keep traveling and I'm going to continue to work hard."
Abell's play on the court has caught the eye of several college coaches. He has several scholarship offers from schools all across the country.
"I have a lot of offers," Abell said. "Seton Hall, Ohio, Akron, Belmont, IUPUI, Marshall, Morehead State and Wright State have all offered."
But those aren't the only schools after him.
"Bradley, Pittsburgh, Louisville and a few other schools are showing interest," Abell said. "I'm going to narrow my list down soon. Right now, I'm just taking it day-by-day."
Eastern is expected to be one of the top team's in the state next season. They hope to make a run at the 7th Region championship.
Shining Stars-Davis also features Jeffersontown's Tony Kimbro, Elliott County's Timmy Knipp and Warren Central's Jordan Shanklin.
