    Bit to Do

Ray Smerlin's "Wonderland" debuts in Louisville with array of talents

Ray Smerlin brought a little bit of Vegas to Louisville last night with the debut of a new monthly arts showcase titled "Wonderland". The showcase ran from about 8:30 until 11 pm and featured music, comedy, magic and aerial arts in addition to some burlesque and fortune telling.

WFPK personality Danny O' Brian emceed the show, making some great jokes along the way and everyone seemed to have a great time. The featured live music of the night was by a band called Swing39, which I was really excited to see. I love big band and swing music, and this group managed to pull it off with a violin, two guitars, and a stand up bass.

The show will continue monthly on the first Thursday of each month at the Vernon club, which is underneath the Vernon Lanes bowling alley. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. and show starts at about 8 p.m. The cost of admission is $10 but that covers two drinks of your choosing.
