Artist, ceramic sculptor and art educator, John McCarthy will be presenting his newest exhibit beginning Friday, Dec. 3 at PYRO Gallery.
The exhibit, titled Contrast & Context: Imaging Peace & Justice will display several sculptures that according to a recent Pyro press release, explore some of the contrasts between beneficial and destructive decisions we make in our everyday lives and the contexts which shape them.
According to the release, several pieces celebrate certain people for the contributions they've made to the world, including Louisville's Anne Braden created by McCarthy with the help of art education students at the University of Louisville.
Also, Interfaith Paths to Peace's Peace Postcards will be on display throughout McCarthy's exhibit. The Peace Postcards, as I explained in a previous article, were distributed around the world and people were asked to draw their visions of peace on the back.
An opening reception for the artist will be held Friday from 6-9 pm. All receptions are free and open to public.
