By now, most Louisvillians and music lovers outside the 502 have probably heard about HullabaLOU, a three-day, five stage music festival with over 65 artists being held at Churchill Downs July 23-25. The headliners - Dave Matthews, Bon Jovi, and Kenny Chesney - have been well publicized. The stable of established acts from all genres is impressive: Ben Folds, Michael McDonald, Sam Bush, Sara Evans, War, and The Avett Brothers are just a handful. It should be a cavalcade of rock, country, bluegrass, soul, and adult contemporary music.

What you may not be aware of is that two spots on the artist line-up remain to be filled, and the public will be the judge. So, if you ever wanted to play Simon Cowell sans the tight t-shirt, smugness, and general nasty countenance, here's your chance. You can go to http://leoweekly.com/band-vote/ and vote once per day per e-mail address. Voting began Friday May 21, and it goes through Wednesday June 2. Every time you vote you will also be entered to win two free tickets to the festival.

The ten acts - five of which are Louisville based - in contention for the last two spots on the bill are Lindsay Brandt (country/pop from Nashville via Evansville, Indiana), Run With Bulls  (rock from Nashville), The Big Diggity (R&B and soul from Louisville), The Hiding (rock from Birdseye, Indiana), 500 Miles to Memphis (country punk from Cincinnati), Zach Williams and the Reformation (southern rock and soul from Jonesboro, Arkansas, Olivia Henken (country from Louisville) , The County Line (alt country rock from Louisville), The Pass (pop-dance-New Wave from Louisville), and Andrea Davidson (singer-songwriter from Louisville).

So, get out and vote and support your favorite up-and-coming acts. Hopefully, HullabaLOU will be an annual event and perhaps one of these ten artists could be a headliner there someday.
