"Throw Down" at Weber Gallery is more than a celebration of ceramic arts. It is a support of children and adults with disabilities, who overcome them every day, every year, and create some of the absolute finest in ceramic arts. Breaking the Mold, this year celebrating its 10 YEAR anniversary, Regional artists with developmental disabilities and Weber Gallery will collaborating to present a pottery show in October 2012. They ask that you “Join us as we support the workshops and partnerships of the Louisville Clay professional artists and artists with disabilities such as autism and Down syndrome. This will be a rare opportunity to see every style, size, and function of this beautiful medium from artists who are as wildly diverse as the art itself!”
The opening reception will be at Weber Gallery and it is free to the public. Man of the artists will be there for a meet and greet, there is a variety of music to enjoy, snacks and beverages are provided and the liveliest and most interesting crowd in town.
During the 2-month exhibition, tours will be offered to schools and other organizations. All artists receive 60% commission on sales, and Weber Gallery's 40% of proceeds go directly toward support of people with developmental disabilities. Weber Gallery is a program of the Council on Developmental Disabilities- a 60-year Louisville organization. Breaking the Mold, the 10-year Anniversary of Louisville Clay runs from October 19--December 31, 2012 with the opening reception will be on October 19, 5:30--9:00pm, however; the Throw Down only has 30 days and 4 hours remaining.
All donors will be recognized in print on signage displayed prominently during the entire exhibition, on exhibition advertisements and fliers, and in the newsletter of the Council on Developmental Disability.
Every donor will receive a personal invitation to the opening reception, and an exhibition poster.
