Liberty Tattoo And Art Parlor host Woman's Art show for National Women's History

Liberty Tattoo and Art Parlor is having an opening reception for their women's art exhibit this Saturday, March 10, from 7 to 10 p.m. The show is to celebrate March as National Women's History Month and will give the public  a chance to meet some of the participating artists.

The genre-defying art on display has been contributed by many local female artists of different media. Some of the artists include Linda Erzinger; Brittany Baker; Ms Pinny; Julie Yoder; Paige Hessel; Nikki Moore; Kristina Bowersmith; Siouxzey; Kimberly Monroe; Jillian Geralds; myself; and gallery co-owner Suzanne Edds. The exhibit displays talent in many areas including painting, sculpture, bookmaking, photography, pottery and more. The show will also feature performance art, poetry reading, and refreshments.

Liberty Tattoo and Art Parlor is a unique concept, combining an art gallery with a tattoo parlor and screen printing press that was founded by Gary Bell and Suzanne in 2004. The gallery rotates visual art on a bi-monthly basis, featuring local and regional pieces. They are located at 2801 S 3rd St between Winkler and Central Ave. Past shows have included their annual pre-Christmas "Under $50 Art Show" , the “Beatersville Art Party”, and benefit shows. They also participate in the annual “Unfair” at Mag Bar, where local artists congregate to display their work. (The Unfair began because some local artists feel the “St. James Art Fair” is unfair in their pricing and in the “crafts” they mostly display.) Anyone interested in more information or participating in future shows at Liberty Tattoo and Art Parlor may contact Suzanne at libertytattooandartparlor AT gmail.com. The phone number is (502) 637-4777.  Although the opening is Saturday, the art is already on display and will be until March 31. Parlor hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
