Yes, we know. Fall is barely here. But we can hear the Christmas bells jangling already, and on November 17th, Carmichaels Bookstore is hosting a Polar Express Pajama Party. The book will be read by the loveable Mrs. Claus, and will be followed by an appearance of none other than Chris Van Allsburg, author and illustrator of The Polar Express.

While the event is put on by Carmichael's, it will be held at the Riverview Room at Kentucky Science Center to accommodate the large expected crowd. The event is perfect for every child, and child at heart who once dreamed of riding the magical train to Santa's Workshop on Christmas Eve night. (I'm tearing up just thinking of it). The adults who attend are invited to join Van Allsburg for a presentation in the 4-story digital theater and the book signing afterwards. Meanwhile, children will be able to enjoy crafts, songs, and get to meet St. Nick himself. Children are encouraged to wear pajamas, and families are encouraged to bring a wrapped gift to be donated for distribution to homeless children.

While the event is free, space is limited and RSVP is required.  Attendees can RSVP by visiting Carmichael's Kids at 1313 Bardstown Road, calling 502-709-4900, or by visiting the store's website
