Establishing yourself in a new place is not the easiest thing to do. Newcomers to Louisville, or any other city for that matter, are faced with the challenge of making new friends and professional contacts. As a Louisville Newbie, I too have been seeking out ways to find a niche in my new home. Like many people in my situation, I have looked into networking events in Louisville. Luckily, there are an abundance of networking groups and events held.

I have attended several networking events during my time here. They all have a slightly different feel and focus. You may want to look into:

    • No Rules Networking- This free networking group meets the third Thursday of every month at The Fox and Hound on near the Oxford Mall off of Shelbyville Road. It is a casual meeting with people from multiple industries. Even if you don’t find exactly what you are looking for, you may find out something new about Louisville, or make a contact that you can work with in the future.
    • BNI Groups- To my knowledge Louisville has several BNI groups. BNI groups are conglomerates of professionals from multiple industries. Each group accepts one member from one industry, and then meets regularly to share ideas and referrals. You can find a local chapter here.
    • Meetup.com- Meetup.com is arguably a social networking website. It brings people with shared interests together to “Meetup” in person. You can find groups that are related to any interest, not just business.
    • Louisville Digital Association- If you are a techie—or would like to meet some of Louisville’s innovative residents—The Louisville Digital Association might be exactly what you are looking for. In addition to being a great way to meet new people, they regularly host events to help you expand your knowledge base.

These are just a few of the many networking opportunities available here in Louisville. If you didn’t find what you are looking for here, Louisville.com is also a great place to find out about what is going on in the city. Visit our events page and go get involved.
