Bryan Fox is a man with a growing set of identities in Louisville. A dentist. A rock musician. A country musician. A husband. A father. And now, Fox, who is set to unveil his 3rd edition of FoxBash, is quickly starting to garner the reputation of being a charitable concert promoter. 



For the last two years FoxBash has been a private fundraiser event for The Smile Train at Fox’s home outside of Fern Creek. In the first two years FoxBash raised over $12,000.

Tonight, debuting as a public fundraising event at Fern Creek’s Billiards Club, FoxBash comes fully equipped with a big name list of musicians (while maintaining its Kentucky flavor), a costume party, an all-you-can-eat buffet from BW3’s and a silent auction that has offered up some pretty hip and pricey Louisville area schwag. Last year’s silent auction presented a Rick Pitino autographed basketball, dental gift certificates to Mortenson’s Family Dental (where Fox practices at), and a 1 night room stay at Horseshoe Casino, amongst many others.


This year’s event welcomes back to the stage Kentucky’s own Nappy Roots, who just released a new studio album called NappyDotOrg, along with San Francisco-based Stroke 9, along with one of Louisville’s long-standing party rock cover bands, Jefferson Tarc Bus. Fox himself is likely to pickup one of his guitars at some point during the night, most likely when Nappy Roots performs a song they co-wrote with Fox last summer called “Countryfied State of Mind.”  



Fox’s charity of choice, The Smile Train, funds the surgeries to correct cleft lip for impoverished children around the world. The average cleft lip surgery, if performed by The Smile Train, costs roughly $250. Divide $250 by the $35-$40 ticket cost and what that means is about every 6-7 people through the door makes a difference for one child. FoxBash’s first year event in 2009 raised over $4,500, and last year’s event in 2010 raised over $8,000. Do the math and you can see how this event is making a difference in the lives of many children. 


So, if you’re gonna booze it up while you’re dressed up tonight, then why not make sure your money is going towards something for a good cause? And maybe, just maybe, we can convince Jefferson Tarc Bus’ bassist Dave Moody to whip up a few of his famous ‘Dave Moody burgers’. Mister Moody? You bringing your grill before the show?
