Recently, Metromix.com posted an article online entitled "Best Pizza: Wick's Papalino's and Spinelli's slice up the Highlands". I read it and of course have my favorite of the three (I mean I am originally from NY), but would like to add in another contender. Basically, anywhere you are in the U.S. you can get a slice of traditional pizza; crust, sauce, cheese, toppings. However, never before have I seen the types of pizzas they serve at Dragon King's Daughter on Bardstown Road, mere blocks from the other three pizza institutions.
My vote for best pizza in Louisville? The Sashimi Pizza from Dragon King's Daughter, hands down. The pizza comes on an oblong shaped crust which can be ordered in a half size ($10) or a full ($14). The crust is piled high with organic spring mix, avocado, and red onions. Then slices of raw salmon, white tuna, and red tuna are delicately laid on their bed of greens. Finally, a drizzle of tamari-mayo finishes it off. I also find that drizzling it with a bit of soy sauce really adds something. Start off with the Lemongrass Miso Soup and add a beer and you basically have the best meal ever.
Seriously, do yourself favor and go try it. When you're ready to try some really good pizza, come home with me to Buffalo, NY...and don't even get me started on wings (not "Buffalo wings").
