Louisville's local music scene has undoubtedly seen an exciting new trend within the last few years. Band after band, music has been pouring from across the riverbanks of Southern Indiana into the hearts of Louisville's locals. One name that has gained great notoriety just within the last 2 years of performing together is the Po' Brothers.
When Po' Brothers got together in October of 2010 the only idea in mind was to perform genuine Rock n' Roll. Within a year of their beginning they shared many local stages with house hold names such as The Trews, Ha Ha Tonka, and Circa Survive.
Last January the brothers, consisting of Collin Curry (guitar, lead vocals, bass), Cody Plaiss (lead guitar, vocals, bass) and Jacob Naville (percussion, cow bell), started to foresee a rebirth in their music. Guitarist Cody Plaiss describes the new concept, ''We found our Stride. January through April last year we took time off to write new material as well as embrace a for m of maturity amongst our music. We decided as a group that this was fore sure. This is something we want to do for the rest of our lives, and with focus good things will follow.
Po' Brothers are in the works of recording fresh material with the objective of releasing their new Ep, Insert Marketing Scheme Here, sometime in the beginning months of new year. Plaiss explains, '' We understand that everything must be marketed in order to be heard, but the marketing concept behind pursuing our goals is our least favorite part about being musicians. People can label us what you want, but we're not trying to be apart of that aspect."
Cody goes on to explain, "With this project we aim to capture the energy of our live performances. We want this E.p. to be as raw, true to life, and genuine as possible which is why we decided to record this project at home. Theres something about Basement Rock that manifest itself into the " party like theres no tomorrow" idea behind Po' Brothers. So we figured we should try to include that in our recording process as well."
Po' Brothers will be presenting many of their new tunes this Friday as they headline The Monkey Wrench. Supporting acts include Hero Jr. and Diverbird. Doors open at 8. Admission is $7.
