When a record store owner starts a Facebook post with "we are closing," it sends shivers down spines, engulfing vinyl fans in a feeling of dread that's been all to common in the rise of digital. Thankfully, when Sean Liter of Modern Cult Records started a post with that phrase, he ended it with "we are reopening," and in this case, relocating.

Modern Cult Records, which is currently at 2001 Frankfort Avenue, will be closed until November 1 when they reopen at 1036 Bardstown Road. This space, neighbor to Holy Grale was previously occupied by Woodstock Antiques.

Liter promises that Modern Cult Records will open with a greatly expanded selection of LPs, CDs, cassettes, an all-ages show space. He mentions adding stereo service and repair as well.

The all-ages adult space at Modern Cult Records is especially important because it is the only record store in Louisville that consistently hosts in-store performances and it is one of the only venues that allows for all-ages to attend.

Modern Cult Records serves many different kinds of music fans and they will especially cater to fans from the fringes. According to the record store's website, "the left of center, unusual and creative sounds of experimental rock forms, avant garde jazz, doom and black metal, proto punk and metal, and numerous others help keep our stock fresh and engaging."

Modern Cult Records has operated since October 2013.
