Just a few hours ago, I posted an article about Skyfall, in which I discussed my quest to see all the James Bond films back to back. I do this sometimes, where I get fixated on a series and have to take it all in at once. I did it recently with the Fast and Furious franchise. Several years ago, I decided I wanted to see Freddy vs. Jason, and so I watched every single Friday the 13th film and every single Nightmare on Elm Street film, and concluded with the cross-over. I plan to soon take on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series, what with the recent release of the new film.
A while back, I became interested in the Alien vs. Predator films, and so that's what I did: I watched the Alien films, I watched the Predator films, and then I watched the crossovers. It was fun. Predator was silly, AvP was better than it should have been, AvP 2 was literally laughable, and Alien: Resurrection wasn't nearly as bad as everyone said. The best film? It's the usual answer, but for a good reason: Aliens, the second in the series.
Tomorrow, Saturday, Baxter Avenue Theater presents a midnight screening of this masterpiece of science fiction actioners. Fifty-seven years after the events of the first film, Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) is awakened from suspended animation. She learns that the alien planet has been colonized, but contact has been lost. With her experience, she is asked to go check out the situation. What follows is awesomeness.

(A side note: In the 90s, Paul W.S. Anderson (director of Alien vs. Predator) made a film entitled Event Horizon, now considered a sci-fi cult classic. It's not good, but it's a fun watch, and kind of feels at times like a mix of Solaris and Alien. What do you think?)
