Just recently, Jalin Roze posted a video for his song “Notorious” on Youtube. This video, shot in New York in a documentary style video by Roze’s friend Maurice Hardy, follows Jalin and friends Coop, Vane, and DJ Always through a week in the Big Apple while he was visiting for the CMJ music festival.

In the documentary style video, Roze performs in New York, New York at The Living Room, visits The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), tours the David and Peggy Rockefeller building, and performs at Pianos in New York, New York. “The performances I had in

New York were very beneficial. I think it just showed me that things were "real" and whatever you put your mind to you can do,” Jalin said to me in an interview.

    Watch the video here.

His trip to New York was filled with good food, good conversation, good people, and of course – a trip to Brooklyn to see the Nets play. “New York really showed me a lot of love and that meant a lot coming from an artist from Kentucky,” Roze said in his blog. New York showed me how to work fast and within a small amount of space. I really loved the work ethic in New Yorkers they wake up everyday working towards their dream.”

“Notorious” was a single off of his last project, Grand National Dreams, which released in October of 2012. “What Notorious means is just going down in history for something that represents you to the fullest and that is what I try to do with my music, similar to BIG (Notorious BIG). No pun intended, but he went out notoriously as one of the best rappers ever and that is what I'm trying to do. I don't just settle for the "best rapper in Louisville". That's too easy I want more of a challenge.”

Roze has a sense of ambition combined with the musical talent that makes him one of the best in the city. He was named number one on Leo Weekly's Best Local Hip-Hop Artist of 2013.

Roze shared with me that his next project, The Galleria, is coming soon. Check out his music and videos on his website.
