Forecastle 2014 will set sail this Friday
through Sunday
and is shaping up to be the biggest yet, hosting up to 75,000 music lovers from all around the world.
With so many out-of-towners descending upon Louisville for the three-day festival, Yelp Louisville and Forecastle teamed up to survey locals about where all these visitors should eat, drink and play in our city.
The survey featured some of Louisville's highest-rated and most-reviewed places on Yelp. Write-ins were also accepted.
And here are the highlights, with the percentages of votes each business garnered:
Top restaurants:
Hammerheads (41 percent)
Havana Rumba in St. Matthews (32 percent)
Wild Eggs on Dutchmans Lane (26 percent)
Top attractions:
Churchill Downs (47 percent)
21c Museum Hotel (42 percent)
Evan Williams Bourbon Experience (40 percent)
Top shopping spots for a one-of-a-Louisville-kind experience:
WHY Louisville in the Highlands (65 percent)
Carmichael’s Bookstore in the Highlands (31 percent)
Joe Ley Antiques (29 percent)
Top watering holes:
Holy Grale (46 percent)
Garage Bar (45 percent)
Zanzabar (32 percent)
Locals’ favorite:
Pizza: Garage Bar (26 percent)
Barbecue: Frankfort Avenue Beer Depot (29 percent)
Burgers: Mussel and Burger Bar (42 percent)
Brunch spot: Wild Eggs on Dutchmans Lane (30 percent)
Bar for bourbon/cocktails: The Silver Dollar (42 percent)
Bar for beer: Holy Grale (32 percent)
Music venue: The Louisville Palace (42 percent)
