We reached out to readers and followers via our social media outlets to find out which local Louisville podcasts were recommended around town. To begin with, what is a podcast? It's essentially a FREE way to listen to content from sources you trust or have interest in. It's an audio recording that has been digitally recorded and is then placed on the internet for listening purposes. You listen to the podcast through the internet on a device of your choices, such as your computer, a tablet, reading device, or a smart phone. And you listen when you want, where you want, how often you want, etc.  Here are some we found by asking around, plus some I have gathered from sources to share as well.

    * Louisville.am hosts eight shows; they include:

    >Louisville Family Fun -  The host of this podcast is one of our own staff writers, Maggie Kimberl! (@LouGirl502). If you have a family, this podcast is for you!

    >Start Up - In this podcast, Louisville.am creator, Dan Vonderheide, talks with area Louisville entrepreneurs about their start-ups and their stories.

    >The Crunch Zone - Hosted by the guys who run www.thecrunchzone.com, this is a podcast all about the University of Louisville sports world. Follow the guys on Twitter: @CrumsRevenge, @UofLSheriff50 #L1C4

    >Deliciously Louisville with Ashlee Eats - Get tips on great food and good deals around Louisville. After listening to this podcast, you'll definitely be hungry and ready to find a local restaurant to stop those cravings.

    >The Rusty Satellite Show with Rick Redding - Listen in for Louisville news and issues, it's a great weekly look into the headlines of Louisville.

    >PodCATS -  8 is Great for the guys who run this podcast, but 9 would probably be better. Take a careful step into the mind of a UK fan here.

    >Louisville A&E Arts and Entertainment on the Fringe - Get more in-depth coverage and conversation about Louisville's thriving and creative arts scene in this bi-weekly podcast.

    >Louisville Beer Podcast - This one is run by the folks at louisvillebeer.com and is full of insiders' points of view from the Louisville beer scene.

Developing Courage - This podcast features topics about child development with intentional parenting. It is hosted by pediatric physical therapist Lauren Thomas and PT and pediatric occupational therapist Kara Vonderheide, OTR/L.

    * Crescent Hill Radio is a 24/7 FM Broadcast and internet audio stream. The shows on Crescent Hill Radio are live but are placed on a sound cloud (resembling a podcast). One reader called their show, "Cumberland Country." It features Country, Bluegrass, & Americana music. The show is LIVE in studio and features interviews and performances by premiere artists of the region.   CJ Cumberland is the host. You can also find CJ and Crescent Hill Radio on Facebook.

    * Frakkin Nerds - I looked up this one because it was recommended on louisville.com's Facebook page when we posed the question of which podcasts were the best. I don't know anything about them, but they look pretty cool and fierce. Their tagline is "They said the meek will inherit the Earth. We say the Nerds are already in control." Find them on Facebook as well.

Missing your favorite podcast or have one to recommend? Leave a comment and tell us all about it, we love hearing about new, fresh ideas on the information world around Louisville!
